DA DA DA DA ...

You guessed it, in the last 2 weeks Logan has mastered Da Da (Despite Mom's efforts to convince him Ma Ma is easier to say). Logan can't get enough of this new word. We took this video of our baby monitor the other night at 11:45 pm. He was supposed to be sleeping. I'm not sure how to edit the clip the first 22 seconds are the best.

Turns out Logan is right his Da Da is pretty neat. His Da Da ...

... feeds him and his brother at the same time (not an easy thing to do)

... tells him funny stories
... and just hangs out with him

I guess I'm hooked on this new word as well. Da da da da ... (although I'm still hoping I can convince Penn Ma ma ma is just as cool)

Finding Nemo

Word on the street is babies like to look at fish. This theory was proven during our unfortunate trip to the ER last week. The boys found the fish in the waiting room fascinating. We decided we should give the boys a chance to see more fish under better circumstances so we took them to the aquarium in Sandy with Aunt Jenny.

As far as aquarium's go we would give this one 2 out of 5 stars. The UT native fish area was very interesting and educational. Did you know every time you flush a spider down the toilet you use 3-5 gallons of water? The tropical fish room was much more colorful making it easier for the boys to see the fish. We didn't think it was a good idea to let the boys touch the sting rays but that didn't stop Spencer.

Can you find Nemo?

You may be asking yourself why we gave this aquarium 2 stars. While it did have an impressive tropical fish collection (Jelly Fish, Sea Horses and several types of eels) the Shark tank was small and the viewing window was even smaller. The building is very small, it doesn't take long to see everything (Spencer thinks the building used to house a Shopko). Pros include the ability to touch sting rays and it seemed child friendly. They also had an educational center that looked interesting. If you have low expectations or haven't been to a larger aquarium I would recommend it.

Driving Home

Geek Squad

About a year ago, we invited some groovy folks over for a dinner party and movie. They choose to watch "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring", a personal favorite. We enjoyed our evening so much we had them over again to watch the second and third movies. As it so often happens life went on and circumstances changed and we missed our friends.

Last Friday they were able to come up for dinner and to meet the boys. After a great homemade pizza dinner we decided to see how sharp our Lord of the Rings memories were with a game of "Lord of the Rings Trivial Pursuit". By the end of the game we discovered we were all geeks. We had a great time and look forward to seeing the Sanders again.

Not Just a Cold??

When is a cold more then just a cold? The simple answer ... when you end up in the ER. Penn caught the "cold" Logan had last week. The only difference, Penn has had a much more difficult time breathing.
Sunday we could hear his wheeze from across the room. It seemed he was having to work extra hard to breath. We called the pediatrician who suggested we bring him in. After his examination he sent us over to the ER for a nasal swab to test for RSV. (Nasal Swab = a long suction tub inserted up his nose). The results came back positive. Turns out Logan had it as well. RSV is serious in infants and a little bit scary. But the boys have dealt with it amazingly well.
We were back at the pediatrician's today and things are looking up. Both Penn and Logan are on the mend. We'll just need to watch their breathing and yes their mucus.

After a long day there is nothing like shooting some hoops with a good friend.







The hoop is a Christmas gift Spencer and I got for the boys. They haven't grasped the whole game just yet, but with more practice I'm sure they'll get it.

Another First

This last week we had yet another first. Logan caught his first cold. It started with a cough I thought was associated with his teething. However it progressed to a bad cough, a runny nose, and red eyes. Little Logan had a rough go of it. He woke himself up on several occasions with his cough. We had to hold him during a few naps so he could sleep. Spencer ended up propping up one side of his crib to help things. There isn't much you can do for a baby with a cold. There isn't any medicine or special foods. All you can really do is run a humidifier and cuddle.

The good news Logan is just about over his first cold. The bad, but expected, news is Penn woke up this morning with a bit of a cough. I'm actually grateful they weren't sick at the same time. I was able to give Logan the love and attention I'm sure I received when I had my first cold, and if Penn does catch his first cold he'll get just as much love and attention.

Friends

Logan and Penn made some new friends during the holiday. Grandma Davis embroidered their names on their bellies and an Aggie A over their hearts. The boys have enjoyed playing with them and even posed for a few pictures.

The other day we caught Logan having a serious conversation with his bear.

The Holidays

We had a great holiday. We enjoyed several family parties and visited with a number of good friends. It was wonderful to visit family as well as have family visit us. We look forward to seeing some of the family we missed. Christmas was even better with the boys. We were reminded of the true reason we celebrate.

Pres. David O. McKay said "The Christmas spirit is the Christ spirit, that makes our hearts glow in brotherly love and friendship and prompts us to kind deeds of service. The Living Christ published in Dec of 2000 states: "He “went about doing good” (Acts 10:38), yet was despised for it. His gospel was a message of peace and goodwill. He entreated all to follow His example. He walked the roads of Palestine, healing the sick, causing the blind to see, and raising the dead. He taught the truths of eternity, the reality of our premortal existence, the purpose of our life on earth, and the potential for the sons and daughters of God in the life to come."

We add our testimony that Christ lives and loves us. He is our Savior. He made it possible for us to return to our Father in Heaven. It is our hope that we may carry the Christmas spirit with us throughout the new year.
