Happy Mothers Day

The Simple Things

Built into the DNA of every little boy is the need to seek out and play with a good stick. This is esp true if your Dad is Spencer. Spenc takes great pride in the fact that as a child he was very content to play with nothing but a stick for days on end. "It builds character and imagination". A few days ago the boys made Spencer proud. As you can see from the pictures the boys found some sticks and played contently. We've been practicing our smiles. They are very cheesy but I can't get enough of them. It's esp funny when they are cranky and mom makes them smile before giving them something.

Trip to Idaho

Spencer has been working crazy hours. He's been averaging 65+ hours a week for 4 months. It's kind of stressful for both of us. I'm at home wondering when he'll be able to come home and he's at work wishing he could come home to us. It never fails on those really long days we have a conversation that begins with me saying "you will never guess what your boys have done". This last week the boys and I decided it might be good for us to take a trip to visit my sister Monica in Idaho and hope it reduces some stress. It was perfect as Sean was out of town for work. So we formed the single wives club.
We had a great time while we were there. We had picnic lunches, played in the dirt and best of all shopped!
Cousin Ayden was great to share and play with the boys. He was the only one that could be bothered for a picture. As you can see the swing set was a hit. Rocks are really cool right now. Whenever we go for walks the boys come home with a handful(which we try to return during the next walk). I guess it was only logical Logan take some for a ride.More cheese please!I just love this pictures. Ayden was showing the boys some bugs in the grass. It just seems like such a little boy activity complete with rocks. I sure love these little guys.

The Man Your Man ...

Commercials aren't all bad. I know most of us DVR right through them, I think my marketing degree changed me. I'm no expert but I may have learned a few things about how companies advertise and what works and what generally doesn't. As a result I'd like to think I'm somewhat immune to their tricks. That is until a commercial so unique ... so funny came along. Before I knew it I had purchased it. And now ... my man smells like the man your man should smell like. I just know one day my man will come home with two tickets to that thing I love and I'm pretty sure he could ride a horse backwards and not luck silly. Just a warning before you watch this, it might work! Enjoy

Lock up your Bunnies

Cache Valley has tonz going for it and this last weekend we enjoyed a few of our favorites. We went to Baby Animal Days at the Heritage Farm. Essentially they have a number of baby farm animals that kids get to touch and hold. I'll admit that not just the kids enjoy this Northern Utah tradition, we got to pet baby goats that were born the night before! I thought that was pretty neat. The pygmy goats here a hit, esp with Penn. He actually chased one and cornered it in a shed just to pet it. In this picture I think he was trying to pick one up.

The baby cow was sleeping, Logan kept mooing at it. He was a little hesitant to pet it. Penn, on the other hand, jumped right in.

The boys really enjoyed petting the baby bunnies. Their ears were so soft. After the farm, and lots of hand sanitizer, it was off to a Cache Valley favorite, Frederico's for pizza. Dessert was a short walk next door to the infamous and incredibly delicious Aggie Ice Cream. I left the camera in the car so we had to use the camera phone. The Ice Cream was great and everyone was very happy the photo just came out a little fuzzy.

We even had time to visit some of our favorite bike shops. It was a great afternoon in Cache Valley. It's no wonder both Spencer and I have a serious crush on that little valley.

The First Easter Egg Hunt

Last Saturday we decided we ought to take the boys to an Easter Egg hunt. Syracuse City puts on a big one at a local park. We of course were running late so the sirens went off just as we were running to the 0 to 2 year old section. We chucked the boys into the maddness that was 200 toddlers trying to figure out why they were there and what they were doing. The boys picked up a few eggs then decided it was more fun to try to open them instead of getting any more. Anyway, I think we had fun. Here are the pictures.

Fun in the Sun

We've had a crazy week and our lucky readers get to hear all about it. Some of this is for journaling purposes so please bare with the long post.

It started with a visit from Grandpa Davis. It was great to have Brent here for a visit and the boys loved playing and wrestling with him. The "Double Brother Tickle" was a hit.

A day after Grandpa's departure we were off for sunny San Diego CA. As eluded too in my previous post from the hotel lobby, we left very early and made a few extra stops. Just a shout out to GPS systems. They rock! Esp when you have two wiggly boys in the backseat who need a 20 min break at a park. No problem with the GPS, parks are easy to find!

Within an hour of arriving, we were at La Jolla Beach and loving it. The boys loved playing in the sand and chasing seagulls. Penn was all about the ocean, true to form Logan was more cautious. Fun to build "sand castles" with dad. Much more fun to destroy them...Penn just had to eat the sand. Once it was in his mouth he hated it ... Once we cleaned his mouth out he'd forget that little detail and more sand would go in. Crazy boy!

For those of you wondering, we were able to get Logan home without a sunburn. Half a can of sunscreen and his camo hat did the trick. That's saying something consider just how fair he is. We also had the opportunity to visit the San Diego Zoo. We loved it. The CA Condors and rattle snakes were a hit with the boys. The Polar Bear exhibit was also very cool. One of the bears went swimming. He did the back stroke as well as flips. Spencer and I really enjoyed it, it just looked like he was having a great time. Telling Dad all about the flamingo's.

It's very important to stay hydrated on those hot California days!

By the end of the day the boys here pooped. Forget them, I was exhausted. The zoo is situated on a large mountain. Carrying extra baby weight and pushing a stroller up and down all the hills, made for a good day. We found a nice, dark, cool viewing area in the otter park and relaxed for a bit. During our stay we were able to attend a sacrament meeting and visit the San Diego Temple. It was beautiful. They had missionaries there to show us pics of the inside. We'd like to go back sometime and see it for ourselves.Spencer's company had done some impressive work on a bridge in the area and of course he wanted to check out. Only with an engineer as a husband do we visit bridges on vacation. I guess everything they did was under ground so the pic doesn't do it justice. San Diego was a wonderful place to visit and we'll most definitely go back. It was an average of 77 degrees while we were there. As I'm writing this it's snowing out my window! Spencer has been working crazy long hours at work so to have a few days all to our selves was truly priceless. The only draw back to San Diego ... it's 650 miles away!
