Temple Open House

Last week we had the opportunity to visit the new Oquirrh Mt Temple. It's a beautiful temple and it was wonderful to take the boys. We are fortunate to live in a valley with so many temples. You could almost throw a rock from the Oquirrh Mountain Temple to the Jordan River Temple! It's truly a blessing. Logan and Penn talked the whole way through and kept pointing at the pictures of Jesus. Here is a pic of us outside with the family.

Don't Forget the Sunscreen

Summer has officially started here. Now that we have carpet in the basement we are taking time off the serious stuff and enjoying fun summer activities. We are almost through our first can of sunscreen!

We've spent lot's of time in our new pool.
The boys enjoyed their first baseball game. We made it to the 5th inning. Not too bad considering they aren't even one yet.This weekend Spencer wanted to share the joys of a car show with the boys. Just making sure their education is well rounded. This is one of Spencer's top 5 cars a 1966 Chevelle. Explaining the very basics of how a car works. The boys also enjoyed some early birthday gifts during Grandpa and Grandma Davis' visit. So little time so many things to empty. Not just toys, all of the kitchen drawers and dresser draws too.

Tour De Davis

Genes can be tricky things. You never know what is going to appear. Many of you may be surprised to learn that a love for bicycling is in fact genetic. Both Spencer and I love to cycle. We watch the Tour of France every year, we love long rides and have even completed a metric century. Turns out the boys got that gene. We busted out some tricycles and they took to them like fish in water.
Consider this a fair warning to all of our friends and family. You have a few years to get your bikes out, tuned up and ready to go cause these little veloists are going to need some company!

The guys have been working on fixing our front step, this was plan A. I think plan H is the one that worked. You have to admire their persistence. That may be genetic as well.

It Stayed In!

Logan is a very observant and cautious little boy right now. This is esp true when it comes to his food. If it isn't pureed then it can't be good. Puffs, bread crumbs, green beans, mushed banana ... all too chunky. We tirelessly work to convince him to put it in his mouth but his little tongue always pushes it all out. As his parents we recognize this quirk but still try to encourage him to try things.

I love, absolutely love, spaghetti and hoped this love for pasta would manifest itself in his genes. As you can see my hopes have been crushed.

And then two days ago something changed and his "turkey dinner" stayed in!! This doesn't mean all solids are worthy of his taste buds but we are making progress. Silly little boy

Just the Guys

Every now and again I get out without the boys. It doesn't happen much but when it does Spencer enjoys spending time with his sons. They often go for car rides or watch car overhauling shows or even play basketball on the little hoop. But their favorite activity to do without Mom is to go to the hardware store. This involves getting a "race car" cart, making funny race car sounds, and steering the cart around the store. Both boys are getting very good at playing with the steering wheel. This last trip to the store I got to come along to look at paint samples for the basement (yes we are nearing the painting stage, finally). I sure love these guys, the cute little ones and that big handsome one too!

Tired ... But Worth It

My cousin Melissa married Davis Wood this week. It was great to see so much of my family and be part of Melissa's special day. Things were beautiful. My Aunt Jen and her kids even came down from Idaho Falls. While we were waiting outside the Bountiful temple I had an interesting conversations with one of her sons, Cory. He was baptised a few months ago and recently finished the second grade. Logan was a little cranky so we were doing laps around the flower beds, Cory was walking with us. We were talking about all the things he learned in 2nd grade and because he didn't like his teacher he was glad to move on. When out of the blue he asked ...
Cory: "Why are we walking?"
ME: "Logan is a little cranky and walking helps"
Cory: "Do you ever get tired of walking?"
ME: "Sometimes"
Thoughtful pause - Cory: "Do you get tired of not be able to do the things you want to do cause of the babies?"
ME: "Sometimes, but I think they are pretty groovy so it's ok. Aren't you glad your Mom did the same thing for you?"
With a goofy smile Cory: "Yea"
And then it was all about 3rd grade.

Our Trip Part 1

Last week we were blessed with the opportunity to take the boys to Pennsylvania to visit the family and meet Great Grandma Peterson for the first time. It was an awesome trip. Grandma and Grandpa Davis went out of their way to make sure everyone was comfortable and taken care of. Between their Grandparents and Aunt Jenny the boys were spoiled. Here are a few highlights.

When Brent and Ellen found out the boys enjoyed the Salt Lake Aquarium they suggested we visit the Baltimore National Aquarium. It was AMAZING! They had so many types of fish and the shark tank was impressive. I don't think I've seen a larger tortoise, we even got to see a 3 toed baby sloth.
The Aquarium doesn't allow you to take the stroller in, however they lend you baby backpacks so it all works out. We don't think Logan blinked the entire 2 hours we were there! He just soaked it all in. Penn fell asleep for 30 mins but the rest of it he was wide awake.

These jaws were ginormous! The picture was back lite so I played with it a little. This aquarium gets 6 stars out of 5. I highly recommend it to anyone who may find themselves in the area. Plus the Baltimore Harbor is fun to see.
